Process
My works typically follow the same pipeline outlined below:
Starting out with the sketch, I define the perspective, composition and anatomical structure of the piece.
From there the lines are refined and finalised in the line art layer.
I like to have separate lineart layers for different elements of the artwork (characters, BG, FG elements).
I block out each element with a different colour in preparation for colouring.
Then I go in with a base layer of colour, which can range from solid colour to more textured, dependent on the intended look.
In this work I did both.
I use various types of layers to add in lighting and shadows.
Finally, small tweaks are made, often I will draw over additional texture or add minor elements to support the piece.
